The 7th European Tay-Sachs and Sandhoff Family conference was held on the 12 – 14 July 2019 in Würzburg, Germany and was organised by our German partners Hand in Hand gegen Tay-Sachs and Sandhoff. The event Brough together over 30 families and researchers from all over the world to discuss the diseases and for the community to spend time together. Held under the banner of the European Consortium the ETSCC, it was a fantastic opportunity for us to continue our annual in person event.
Conference summary
The conference focussed on the treatments that are being developed for Tay-Sachs and Sandhoff disease. With participation from companies all over the world, it was interesting for our community to get an update on the latest approaches being taken, including gene therapy. For families, we were able to bring everyone together to discuss the latest advice on providing care. Our approach at the ETSCC has always been about sharing and it was fantastic to see the interaction between families from different countries sharing their approach to providing care.
