About Us
OUR OBJECTIVES
At The CATS Foundation our objective is to make sure that no family affected by Tay-Sachs or Sandhoff disease feels isloated after a diagnosis.
OUR FOUNDERS
The CATS Foundation was established in June 2011 by Daniel and Patricia Lewi after their daughter Amelie was diagnosed with Tay-Sachs at 15 months of age in March 2011. At the time there was no UK based charity dedicated to providing support for families affected by Tay-Sachs or Sandhoff disease and the charity's main focus is supporting families whilst also raising awareness of the diseases. Sadly, Amelie passed away in December 2017 at the age of 8.
OUR TESTIMONIALS
Here are the views of some of the families who have received help and assistance from The CATS Foundation.
When I think about the CATS foundation, the word “hope” is the first thing that crosses my mind. They gave us the hope that the cure will finally be discovered. We are aware that it might be too late for Emi, but having the hope is what gives us strength to live and fight everyday. The community that has been built by the CATS is incredible.PATRYCJA WREZEL

The CATS Foundation has provided support for our family in so many different ways. Initial contact with the charity meant we spoke to people who knew first hand what we were going through. The comfort this gave us at such a devastating time was so important, we instantly felt less isolated and able to cope with what the future held.EMMA MURPHY

The CATS Foundation have been a great support since my son's diagnosis. They have been there to support us either by chatting or equipment that they have lent us. We have made some great friends too that have became our family. This means a lot to our family as The CATS foundation are the ones that know what each family are going through.LYNN EASDALE
